Leaving from Salta City in a 4×4 pick-up truck, we will head southwest driving past huge tobacco farms, Salta’s main export crop, and through the green Quebrada de Escoipe to Las Margaritas, 80km from Salta City and 2200m (m.a.s.l.) high. From here we will begin our trek, ascending the mountain on a zig-zag trail, and making stops to appreciate and take photos of the stunning panoramic views. If you are interested in birds, there will also be an opportunity to do some bird-watching along the way, and if we’re lucky we may even see an Andean Condor, the biggest bird in South America. The area is also home to a huge variety of plants, unique to the area. Once at the top, located at 3100m (m.a.s.l.), we’ll find some interesting rock formations and the best views of the Cuesta del Obispo, the perfect place to enjoy our well-deserved picnic lunch (lunch included)! We will return via the same route.
